Game 15 Charro Black Beans Vikings at Packers

Game 15

Pregame

Aaron Rodgers said the Packers could win out and we are 4 games through that prediction.  Minnesota is definitely not the same team they lost to in their new stadium in Week 2.  After starting out 5-0 they have only won 2 games.  Adrian Peterson came back last week(didn't do anything special) but is out this week with a sore knee.

The Packers will be without Randall Cobb, James Starks, and Jayrone Elliott. They will probably miss Elliot the most since Clay Matthews(shoulder) and Nick Perry(broken hand) are both limited in what they can do.

The Pack need to focus on the task at hand and not be looking ahead to the last game of the season in Detroit.

By the way, Viking helmets with horns....total myth!  I watched a special about vikings the other day and it said as much.  Make sure you bring it up in any interactions you have with Vikings fans.

Recipe

Charro Black Beans
by Debra Byczek
Ingredients:
1 large onion, diced
1 large jalapeno, diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
4 teaspoons cumin
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
4 cans black beans, drained and rinsed
5 cups vegetable broth
1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
4 Roma tomatoes, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste

In a large pot saute the onion in a small amount of vegetable broth.  Add in the jalapeno, garlic, cumin, and red pepper flakes. Next, add the beans, broth, and cilantro.  Cook over medium heat about 20 minutes.  Then add in the tomatoes and salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the beans over rice and top with radishes, cilantro, or avocados.

Game Recap

Packers beat the Vikings 38-25!   5 wins in a row with one more to play in Detroit next weekend for the season finale to determine their playoff hopes. There are scenarios that the Packers could make it without beating Detroit but just win and you control your destiny and head into the playoffs as the hottest team in the league.

The 2nd half of this game was just a formailty as this game was over by halftime with a score of 28-13.  Aaron Rodgers was hot again spreading the ball around to 9 teammates and he also rushed for a touchdown and did his 1st Lambeau leap in a long time.  Jordy Nelson was the main target but rookie Geronimo Allison was also impressive tied for the 2nd most catches. The defense was able to distract Bradford enough to always making him feeling rushed but wasn't overly impressive.

Sunday night in Detroit is what we have worked for the entire season.  We all wish we had already made the playoffs, but with all the injuries and dysfunction early on, this is where we are.  You have to give the Packers credit for playing one game at a time and not looking ahead.

Happy Holidays
